Guarantees & Instruments
What is a Tender Bond?
A Tender Bond (also known as a Bid Bond) is a guarantee issued in favour of a project owner or procuring authority to assure that the bidding company will honour its bid submission and, if awarded, enter into the contract. It protects the beneficiary against the risk of a winning bidder withdrawing before contract execution. Tender Bonds are commonly required for public procurement and large private sector project tenders.
What is a Performance Bond?
A Performance Bond guarantees that the principal (contractor or supplier) will fulfil their contractual obligations as agreed. If the principal fails to perform, the beneficiary can make a claim under the bond. Performance Bonds are widely used in construction, infrastructure, supply contracts and international project agreements to provide financial recourse against non-performance.
What is the difference between an SBLC and a Bank Guarantee?
Both instruments serve as financial assurance mechanisms, but they differ in structure and usage conventions. A Bank Guarantee (BG) is a direct obligation that is typically issued under local banking law and is more commonly used in continental Europe and the Middle East. A Standby Letter of Credit (SBLC) follows UCP 600 or ISP98 rules, is governed by letters of credit practice and is widely used in international trade, particularly in the US and Asia-Pacific regions. Both provide equivalent financial protection but may be preferred in different jurisdictions or transaction types.
When is an Advance Payment Guarantee used?
An Advance Payment Guarantee is issued when a buyer or project owner makes an advance payment to a contractor or supplier before the goods are delivered or services performed. The guarantee ensures that the advance payment can be recovered if the principal fails to deliver. It is commonly used in manufacturing, construction projects, commodity trade and international supply agreements where advance payments are required to initiate production or mobilisation.
Trade Finance
How can guarantee instruments support international trade?
We aim to respond to all preliminary assessment requests within 2 business days. Complex enquiries may require additional review time.
Can your solutions support emerging markets?
Yes. Structured guarantee instruments are particularly valuable in emerging market contexts, where counterparty risk is higher and trust between trading parties may require additional financial reinforcement. Our instruments are designed to meet international standards and are structured to be accepted by counterparties and financial institutions in a broad range of jurisdictions, including growth markets and frontier economies.
Are your services suitable for import/export companies?
Yes. Aurexis Bond’s instruments are specifically designed for internationally active trading companies. Importers and exporters can benefit from a range of instruments including Payment Guarantees, SBLCs, Advance Payment Guarantees and Bank Guarantees that provide structured financial protection for their commercial transactions and help establish credibility with new trading partners and financial institutions.
Compliance Questions
Do you apply AML and KYC procedures?
Yes. Comprehensive Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Client (KYC) procedures are applied to all client engagements. These procedures are a mandatory component of our compliance framework and are applied consistently regardless of transaction size, client profile or jurisdiction. All prospective clients must complete the required documentation and verification procedures prior to any instrument being structured or issued.
What documents are usually required?
Standard documentation typically includes corporate registration documents, certificate of incorporation, articles of association, proof of registered address, beneficial ownership information and identity documentation for directors and beneficial owners. Additional documents may be required depending on the nature of the transaction, the jurisdictions involved and the specific instrument being requested. Our compliance team will provide a detailed documentation checklist at the outset of each engagement.
Do you perform sanctions screening?
Yes. Comprehensive sanctions screening is applied to all parties in every transaction. This includes screening against major international sanctions lists (including OFAC, EU, UN and HM Treasury), PEP (Politically Exposed Person) databases and adverse media sources. Sanctions screening is an integral and non-negotiable component of our compliance process and is repeated at relevant stages throughout the engagement lifecycle.
International Operations
Can you support cross-border projects?
Yes. Cross-border project support is a core focus of our operations. We structure instruments specifically designed for multi-jurisdictional transactions, joint venture projects and internationally financed infrastructure and development projects. Our instruments are designed to meet the requirements of international counterparties, financial institutions and project developers operating across multiple regulatory environments.
Which industries do you usually work with?
Aurexis Bond supports clients across a broad range of internationally active sectors including international trade, construction and infrastructure, energy and commodities, import and export, public and private tenders, emerging market operations, cross-border project development and corporate finance. We work with companies of varying sizes, from mid-market businesses to large corporate entities engaged in complex international transactions.
How can we start a preliminary assessment?
To initiate a preliminary assessment, please complete the contact form on our Contact page, providing information about your company, the type of instrument required and the commercial context. Our corporate desk will review your enquiry and respond within a short timeframe with an initial assessment of how we may be able to assist. There is no obligation associated with a preliminary assessment.
